About me
I am a Clinical Psychologist and registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (UK).
I specialise in working with children, young people, young adults and their families.
As a clinician, the main approaches I draw upon in my clinical practice come from attachment theory (looking at how our early experiences of relationships can form a blueprint which influences how we relate to ourselves and others), systemic and narrative approaches and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (including third-wave approaches such as Compassion Focussed Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
My Story
I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Leeds, followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Low-Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Interventions, and finally my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London.
I have over 11 years of experience working with children, young people, and adults in various specialist services within the NHS and independently. This experience has developed my specialist skills in assessment, individual therapy, and delivering group interventions. It also provided opportunities to work with wider networks through consultation, training, and supporting service development.
In my most recent NHS role, I worked as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in a complex neurodevelopmental disabilities team, providing regional and national service for assessing and diagnosing children and young people with neurodevelopmental disabilities, until the end of January 2024.
Before my doctoral training, I worked in research, which developed my interest in the important role of our early relationships in creating a blueprint for our later life interactions with others and the environment around us. This interest has been very influential in my clinical practice.
